How to Speed Up Your Metabolism With Food

Our metabolism is what burns calories whilst sitting still. If you can get your metabolism working all day long you will start to see results fast. It doesn’t matter what body type you are, anybody can use these tips and lose body fat easily. First step you can take is by looking at what you eat daily and tracking your habits. If you have favourite snacks or drinks that you know have high sugar or fat content, cut them out or at least cut down on them. This amplifies your results in losing weight along side speeding up your metabolism.

So how do you speed up you metabolism? When we eat blood rushes to our stomach, energy is then used to break down the food. Depending on what you eat will determine if your food is stored as fat or burned as energy. Eating little often keeps our metabolism firing, so switch your daily meals from the conventional 3 meals a day to 6 small meals spread out over the day. With the normal 3 meals a day (or 2 for some people, as they skip breakfast) we tend to binge to make up for the long break from eating. We suppress this by buying sweets and treats to keep us ticking until lunch or dinner. By eating 6 small meals spread out over the day our body is constantly breaking down the food speeding up your metabolism from before resulting in burning more calories.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as this is what kick starts out metabolism. If you’re one to dodge breakfast, don’t! Get up earlier if you have to. A great morning breakfast is porridge oats with a blob of honey to add some flavour with a glass of grapefruit juice and a piece of fruit which you can eat on the go. Porridge oats are made up of complex carbs which give slow release energy, keeping you fuller for longer resulting in no snacking on treats before lunch.

Another way to speed up your metabolism is by increasing your protein intake and building muscle. You don’t need to be lifting weights like Ronnie Coleman but some free weight exercise with low reps will get your body building muscle tissue and burning calories whilst you’re sitting still.
